Mechanical behaviour of frame beams and examples of their practical use

Abstract

An integrated, approximative and simple procedure for determining internal forces of frame beams, showing mechanical behaviour of the system, is described. In this procedure, it is assumed that inflection points of deflection lines occur, during load application, in the middle of chord members and elements. The procedure for determining basic eigenvibration periods for beams, in order to define beam response to dynamic actions, is presented. A number of examples, with details about the use of the system in various fields of civil engineering, are given.
