Ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations on rock mass

Predrag Miščević, Danijela Števanić

Abstract

Some methods frequently used for determining an ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations on rock mass are described. These methods have been applied for the flysch, which is a thin-layered rock mass whose uniaxial compressive strength is by far lower than that of the concrete normally used in the construction of foundations. The authors present influence elements of the safety factor that serves as basis for determination of allowable load for shallow foundations on rock mass.
