Bearing capacity of glued and wound steel bars contained in oak elements

Vlatka Rajčić, Adriana Bjelanović, Mladenko Rak

Abstract

The tensile strength of glued and wound steel bars contained in oak samples, as determined by uniaxial pull-out testing, is presented in the paper. The bearing capacity of such connections depends on the geometry of the connection, but also on the quality of the wood, glue and steel. The parametric model, prepared before the testing based on the finite element method, has proven to be a theoretical confirmation of test results. The analysis shows that the stress distribution corresponds well with individual connection failure mechanisms.
